“Behind every angry woman stands a man who has absolutely no idea what he did wrong.”— Unknown author

This witty, painfully accurate quote provided the spark for this painting, which captures a familiar and relatable dynamic— this time through the eyes of two kingfishers.

Perched on the tip of a branch, the female bird’s feathers are visibly ruffled, radiating indignation. A little further along, the male bird clutches a fish in his beak— his gaze somewhere between confusion and concern, his feathers flattened. He doesn’t know what he did wrong, but he's trying to fix it in the only way he knows how: with a peace offering.

Humor and nature meet here in a quiet family drama— played with feathers not words. This piece playfully reflects on communication, misunderstandings, and the often unspoken tensions that arise in relationships. By anthropomorphizing the birds, I invite viewers to laugh, reflect, and perhaps recognize a piece of their own lives in this frozen moment.
