Art is the appearance—waiting to be deciphered—of life experience and worldview condensed into a single „image.” Symbols, as explanations of the relationship between the world and man, have been with us since ancient times. Human energies and soul journeys clothed in animal skin endowed man as a natural being with a power by which he surpassed himself. Ruth’s creations cast precisely these apparitions onto canvas. Do not believe your eyes! See with your heart! Yes, your intuition is also needed if you want to be a part of Ruth’s creations. Linger over the paintings, decipher the message, and you will be initiated into a special language that you actually already know from a very long time ago.

Thoughts wrapped in animal skin”
A peculiar harmony of fairytale-like visions and everyday reality is reflected in Ruth's canvases. Through the animal kingdom, she conveys hidden messages to us that evoke the innocence of our childhood, while at the same time confronting us with deep emotional and social issues that concern us all.
His works draw sometimes from personal experiences, and sometimes from realistic, imaginative stories that can feel both familiar and surprising to us.
Ruth, with her characteristic confident, practiced brushstrokes and clean compositions, easily captivates us and encourages us to immerse ourselves in the stories and ponder the events shown in the picture further.
His creations exude a kind of loving tranquility in today's chaotic world, where we can return at any time and linger whenever we feel like it.

Do we become wiser, or just taller?
This is the question asked by Ruth Schmidt as a textual explanation of her painting of the same title. It is the question by answering which we can get closer to the female painter's world.
We see a kind of duality: a realistic mode of representation, which here is a technical element. Ruth paints boldly, creating with technical maturity, but without boastfulness. Technique is not primary for her, and that is a good thing. She does not fall into the trap of „I know how to paint very well, therefore I am an artist,” but instead lets the viewer discover her painterly world.
The other element of duality is the dream. Not a simple dream, but the projection of reality, its true manifestation. What happened to me? What if…
Ruth tells stories, authentic ones. Sad ones, happy ones, worldly-wise ones. A Renaissance person who shows us her own knowledge, wisdom, and experiences in this exhibition.
I recommend Ruth Schmidt to everyone's attention; we will be hearing a lot about her in the future.
