The interesting part of the story is that I didn't know about it. Yesterday, my Master, Kálmán Gasztonyi, congratulated me. He said that an uncle of his living in America shared on Facebook that a Hungarian girl from Budapest won the EOD 2024 Audience Award in California. My Master commented that I am his student... what a small world...

Budapest artist Ruth Schmidt won the People's Choice award for her work „Friendships” at the Embracing Our Differences 2024 outdoor exhibition, which celebrated kindness, respect, and inclusion at Sarasota's Bayfront Park and St. Petersburg's Poynter Park.
„I want to create paintings that express the inexpressible, Schmidt said. Not only do I want to make the visible world visible, but I also want to convey thoughts and feelings. I like to paint the reality behind the perceptible world; I want to make invisible things visible, such as childlike faith, attachment, feelings between humans, the relationship between God and man, transience, hope, affection, love, pain, humor...
I draw these paintings from my own experiences, events, and impressions, and since each of them is a little piece of my soul, these are the closest to my heart.”
Schmidt received a $2000 cash prize for his work. The People's Choice Award is determined by a survey that was available to the nearly 42,500 visitors attending this year's exhibitions held between January 21 and April 14.
