The concept of friendship is very hard to explain. You don't learn this at school. When I was very young, I thought that friends are those with whom you can laugh, gossip, and talk, but now I know that they aren't those, but rather the people who touch your heart. They are the ones with whom you can share your secrets, cry with them, or just unwind. They accept you for who you are, believe in you, challenge you, inspire you, and encourage you. They convince you that you are braver than you think,
stronger than you look and smarter than you think.
...and...not everyone is your friend. Just because they hang around you and laugh with you doesn't mean they are your friends. People can fake it very well. Sooner or later, real situations and problems expose fake friends. They are like shadows. They follow you in the sunshine, but they leave you in the dark. As Mark Twain said: „Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the truly great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”.
Friendship fundamentally transcends differences—whether in personality, style, or perspective. When real, it beautifully bridges these divides and enables mutual learning, support, and growth. Choose wisely. Value authenticity. Cherish those who are real.
