My painting is a study based on Sir Edwin Henry Landseer's painting ”Favorites„.
At the time when sixteen-year-old Prince George of Cambridge ordered this painting at Windsor—featuring Landseer's grey Arab stallion, his Newfoundland dog named Nelson, a King Charles Spaniel named Flora, and the hooded falcon shown here—it held significant dynastic importance.
Sir Edwin Henry Landseer (1802–1873) was an English painter and sculptor, known for his paintings of animals—especially horses and dogs. However, his most famous works are the lion sculptures at the base of Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square.
