• When I started to paint, I had no big goals or dreams, such as to exhibit in New York in front of 50.000 people. I just wanted to be better every year.
First I started to learn from my Master, later I made my website, then I started going to smaller competitions and I accepted opportunities they offered me. When I started having smaller successes, I started trying bigger bites.
  • This American competition, released by the company World Wide Art and Artavita was such a big deal for me. The company’s profile includes publishing art books, creating exhibitions, participating in large expos and also operating as an online gallery. The prize of the competition is, that one person will be selected to be represented for free at the 2024 New York Art Expo.
  • The fee for application was minimal, so I thought I don’t have much chance, but I’ll try.
  • I was shocked when I received an email from them a few days ago:
    „Dear Ruth,
I am pleased to inform you that you were the winner of the latest Artavita Contest, with your paintings “Friendships”, “Politicians” and “Lost Eden”. Judging this contest was very difficult as there were many very noteworthy works entered. Out of a total of 1739 works entered by 641 artists, we chose 125 artists as finalists. As the winner, you are entitled to exhibit these three works in our pavilion at Artexpo New York, from April 4 - 7, 2024, with no participation fee…”
  • I’ll be honest, I cried. I remembered the worlds of my Master, Kálmán Gasztonyi, at my last solo exhibition: „ruth, with these paintings such as „Friendsheeps” and „Politicians” would fit in any New York gallery”. He was right! He already saw what I thought were just kind words. Thank you, Master!
  • (I would like to note here, that I had inquiries in this year for this event, so I know that the price of this would have been about 2.500.000-3.000.000 Huf. with 3 pictures (only for the stand).
  • So I think you already understand how much of a blessing and honor is this for me…
I would like to shout this joy out into the world.
