The Wailing Wall or Western Wall is Second Temple<\/a> retaining wall dating from between 516 BC and AD 70 In Jerusalem<\/a>. The name Wailing Wall comes from the fact that Jews pray at this wall to mourn the destruction of the Temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, for Jewish people, the Western Wall is the most easily accessible and largest site if they want to pray near the former Temple. The plaza in front of the Wall is never empty: from early dawn to late at night, a multitude of worshippers fills it. During the morning, afternoon, and evening prayer times, countless minyans, meaning prayer communities, gather here.
